Jewellery Course

Basic jewellery-making techniques and jewellery design.

Create your own finished, wearable pieces of jewellery!

This 5 day course is open to anyone with a passion for jewellery and no previous experience is required. During the course 4 pieces of jewellery will be designed and manufactured using sterling silver and semi-precious beads. All equipment is supplied by the Jewellery Design Division.

 The following pieces will be created:

A pair of earrings

A basic half round ring

A chain bracelet

A pendant

 A variety of manufacturing techniques will be demonstrated:

Transferring designs onto metal

Precision marking, drilling, sawing, and filing

Surface finishing and polishing

Casting sterling silver into ingot molds

Rolling metal sheet

Making round wire, jump rings and hook clasps

Bending, soldering and finishing a half round ring

The cuttlefish casting method

Stringing pearls and beads

Various surface texture techniques

This course is a wonderful opportunity to probe jewellery as a career or as a hobby. Limited space is available and booking is essential.
