Open Book Comics Fest 2013

One of South Africa's biggest exhibitions of comic art, cartooning and illustration, the Open Book Comics Fest (formerly known as Co/Mix), will be happening from Saturday the 7th up until Tuesday the 10th of September at the Homecoming Centre in the Cape Town CBD. The Open Book Comics Fest is a FREE entry festival that will create a space for the public to meet and interact with top South African cartoonists, illustrators, comic artists and writers.

The festival will include more than 40 artists, 5 comic book launches, 8 seminar/panel talks on comics and cartooning and two days of follow-on workshops on comics, marketing comics, publishing and distribution. Artists will also share their individual and varying approaches to comic book-making with presentations, debates and seminars. The event is organized as part of the Open Book Festival and will also see a separate launch of a graphic literature anthology, GRAFlit: Graveyard Literature in Black & White, two days before the main event at the exciting new Youngblood Gallery in Bree Street, Cape Town.
