Ben Winfield is a freelance illustrator, sculptor and videographer currently living and working in Cape Town, South Africa. Ben graduated from The Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2010 and works fulltime as an illustrator for an animation studio based in town. His artwork has been included in a number of exhibitions both locally and abroad.

Chatting to the CCIBA about his Graflit: Urban Interiors submission, Ben said:

The story I wish to tell is from the viewpoint of a homeless man who sits under a bridge for shelter. Never moving. No money. No food. Alone. How long would it be before your mind began to wonder? Where would it go? What stories would it begin to tell itself? To a passer-by he is just a man sitting under a bridge, but to the reader it is revealed that his mind has drifted into another state of consciousness. One that is all encompassing, fantastical and real.
