ABOUT THE FACILITATOR: JACKIE RUTH MURRAY

I am a Cape Town based freelance photo/video cameraperson, director, consultant and curator. I work in documentary shorts and promos, editorial and advertising productions. I teach student workshops on an ad hoc basis and last year secured the two top gold Loerie student advertising campaign awards for Art Direction. I am currently completing a p/t Masters degree at the University of Cape Town’s Centre for Film and Media Studies. My experimental short film 'The Waiting' was screened at the 2013 Jo’burg Fringe Art Fair and my current film 'The Daily Dose' was selected for pitching at the Encounters Documentary Film Festival Al Jazeera Forum. I was recently invited to attend a residency on the theme of "Origin and Present Age" at the Dachau Artists Association, Germany in July of this year. I conceptualize, design and organize community photographic events for Cameraland Cape Town and am curating A Pristine Land Interrupted due to travel from the FNCC in Windhoek to open at the AVA in January 2015.
